Happy Wednesday Everyone:
I am writing to share my submission for the Inky Impressions Challenges #52 Flower Power.  You can find the challenge here.   I used Chatterbox Lili which is one of my favorites of the new releases.  You can find her here in the Inky Impressions Store.  I heat embossed Lili and then did some paper piecing, love how this came out.
We have the luck of being sponsored this week by two wonderful companies:  The Robin's Nest and Kenny K.  I used a Robin's Nest rubon inside my card.
I also used the sketch from Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge #377 which you can find here
Thanks for looking and hope you have a chance to play along for some fun prizes.

3/19/12 Paper Flower Tutorial

Hi Everyone:
Happy Monday. Anita here with a fun tutorial for making your own paper flowers. I love using them on both cards and layouts and you will be so happy to see how easy they are to make.
We are so lucky to be sponsored this whole month by the Robin's Nest and I have used one of her jewels on my layout. Be sure to check out the challenge blog to see what everyone has been creating with these awesome products.

Here are the supplies that you are going to need to make the flowers. The petal roller is optional, but I like to use one so that I don't squish my flowers. You can also use a quilling tool. I use wet adhesive because I believe that it holds better than glue dots. You can also round your corners by hand as well.
You need to cut your paper into squares, no matter what size flower you want. These are three inch squares which makes pretty good size flowers. The corners also need to be rounded. Once you have done that, turn your paper over to the back side that won't be showing on your project and start at one edge and draw a spiral into the center of the paper. Leave a bit of a circle in the center as this ends up being the part that you glue your flower to. Also please note that you can make your spiral have more or less lines and this will also change the look of your flower.
Start cutting from one edge and cut along your lines until you get to the center.

Start rolling your flower from the edge where you made your first cut. You are going to want the pattern you would like to see when you look at your flower on the inside so make sure that you are rolling with that in mind.

Here is my layout that I did using Nikki's Running Late for School Inky Impressions Challenges stamp. Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of your week.
I also entered this layout in the Crafts By Sue challenge for anything goes this week.  You can find the challenge here

Anita

3/14/12 My Little Bit Of Whimsy Spring Touches

Hi Everyone:
Anita here. As I write this post it is in the low 70's here today and being on the East Coast of the US we also sprang ahead with our clocks on Saturday night. All things point to spring coming. I decided to use some of my marvelous Whimsy goodies to celebrate the coming of spring. I am also going away scrapping for the weekend with some of my best friends and I feel guilty that I won't be here on St. Patrick's Day, so I made my hubby a Date Night Kit and my daughter a box of chocolate goodies.
I found the idea for the date night kit on Splitcoast and modified it to work for my purposes. I used some wonderful Whimsy buttons and one of Stephanie's adorable birds on the front cover.
Here is a close up of the buttons and bird pin.
I think he will really like this and I will write something fun on the insert.
My second project is an altered tin filled with chocolate nuggets for my daughter. I have had this tin forever and the Doodlebug paper that I used since 2006. It matched pefectly with the leaf and ladybug pin that I just got from Stephanie.

I fell in love with this leaf and ladybug pin and may have to buy a few more. You can see this and all of Stephanie's other wonderful creations here.
Big hugs and see you soon,

3/14/12 Let's Capture our Memories Sketch Challenge

Here is my card that goes along with Kimberly Figures sketch.  It is a fun one.  I played with some papers from Doodlebug from 2006.  You can play along here.

3/12/12 March Card Sketch Right At Home Scrapbooking

Untitled
You're my favorite 1Hi Everyone:
Happy Spring. It is so beautiful out today as I write this post, it just makes me cheery. Lisa gave me some fabulous papers from Echo Park called Times & Seasons and I had a lot of fun making this card to go along with the March sketch. I love to dig through my old MFT stamp sets for sentiments and loved this sentiment from the Primrose set. I am sure that Lisa can get it for you. I am in love with the rolled scalloped flower die from MFT and in fact lost my first one so am on my second one. Lisa can get these for you too if you have to have it all like me. LOL
Enjoy the rest of your week and I will be back soon.
Hugs,
