Paper Issues Sketchy Saturday

Jennifer Chapin created this fun sketch for Paper Issues' Sketchy Saturday.  I decided to play along and am hoping that you will have a chance to do so as well.  You can play along on the PI blog.

I used awesome papers that I ordered from the PI store called Bella Rouge by Pink Paislee.  You can find all Cassie has in the store here.

Here is the inside of my card.  I love using my Silhouette to create sentiments.

Applique Fun

Don't you love this sweet mug?  I fell in love the with the colors and pattern of the flower and want to make a mug rug to go along with it.  Today I am going to do a tutorial to show you how easy it is to mirror the pattern that you like and want to replicate.
I usually head over to Google Images and find something that I like.  I picked these two flower shapes and copied them into a word document and printed it out.
Next I got my light board out and put the pattern piece on top of the light board.  I decided to use the flower on the right for my applique.
I placed the flower template on top of the light board and then put my fusible interfacing on top of it with the grooved side that you iron on down and the smooth side up.  I traced the flower and it is now ready to be ironed onto the back of my fabric.  I would probably make a few more of these to use in my project.  Once your iron it on you peel off the backing and iron it down onto your fabric.  Follow the instructions on your fusible interfacing for the ironing part.  I usually trim around pretty close to my drawn lines so that I waste as little fabric as possible.

Keep following the blog because I will likely finish this project up and show you how it came out.  I will also share my favorite technique for machine applique.

Anita

Angel Calendar

Happy Friday everyone:
We are down to the wire with the holiday happening next week.  I love this sweet calendar set which I made for a dear friend of mine who is truly an angel.  I stapled the calendar pages together and then glued a ribbon down over the top of the pages.  I did not adhere the ribbon over the actual pages so that they would be easy to tear off at the end of the month.

2015 Calendar Kit - Angel's Believe
I bought these tacky magnetic adhesive dots and put a bunch of them on the back of the calendar to make sure that it will hold up to being hung up.  These calendars are so quick and easy and would make a lovely gift for a teacher, friend or grab gift.
Best wishes for a wonderful holiday.

Anita

Ewe-N-Me DT Project, Santa Gift Card Envelope

Hello Everyone:
Can you believe how close Christmas is getting?  I needed to make a gift card holder for my brother and fell in love with this Merry Christmas Santa printable Cocoa Treat envelope.  I decided to make mine into a gift card holder.  I like to jazz up gift cards and think this will do the trick perfectly.

I added stickles roughly to his beard and eyebrows to give them some dimension.  Because this treat envelope is so lovely and is for a man, I didn't do much other decorations than creating two hang tags, one with the Santa from the back of the package and another tag with my brother's name on it.
I printed two of the files and then was able to easily decorate any way in which I wanted to.  That is the beauty of Deena's files, once they are yours, you can print as many as you need to.  I'll be back later this week with another project.  Have a great day everyone and hope this holiday season is magical for you.

17 Turtles Guest Designing

I am so excited to be guest designing for 17 Turtles Etsy Shop owned by the lovely and talented Juliana Michaels.  I had such fun creating this altered holiday project from the cut file which is called Santa No. 2.  I used Vinyl which is so easy to cut out on the Silhouette.  Cricut sells a multi pack of vinyl which was perfect to use for this project.  Vinyl is so easy to cut and does not require a mat which means you don't have much waste.
Santa No. 2 Digital Cut File | Perfect for a variety of craft projects including paper crafting, scrapbooking and more.

I love how it looks when it is lit and when it is not.  I am thinking that I need to make some more of these blocks using other holiday cut files from 17 Turtles.  I bought the glass block, the lights, fake snow and ribbon all at a local craft store.

Hugs,
Anita

Warm Snowmen Ornament

I love the holiday season because there is such inspiration around you.  I found these ornaments at Michael's and had seen someone else make an ornament out of one half.  I used the Warm Snowmen hang tags and chose one for inside of my ornament.  I put fake snow and a background scalloped circle and some jewels to give it some sparkle.

Tried a photo not on the tree and tried to block the glare from the light outside.  You can make so many of these ornaments with the hang tags and bottle cap inserts and get two ornaments for the price of one ball.  There are different size circles as well.

Thanks for looking and be sure to check out the Ewe-N-Me Printables store as Deena has added a whole bunch of wonderful goodies for you to choose from.
