Easter Treats

Happy Easter:

I love making treats for special holidays and am excited about how these Rice Krispie treat pops came out and how cute they look with twine that matches the sprinkles that I put in the batter.  Twine from The Twinery just makes everything that much more special and oh so gorgeous.

Glittery St. Pat's

Happy March Everyone:

I love St. Patrick's Day.  I Irish step danced for 7 years as a kid and married a wonderful Irish man with the last name of Mulcahey.  This is my holiday and I love it.  I had a blast creating this treat container from Lori Whitlock using some wonderful twine which I curled and stiffened for the handle of my box as well as to adorn my card.  There are so many wonderful colors that you can use on all your St. Pat's and spring projects.

Spring Deco Foil Candle

Happy Leap Day Everyone:

Anita here posting today on this Leap Day.  I am done with winter and am thinking ahead to spring.  I was lucky enough to receive some wonderful Deco Foil from Therm-o-web.  I had won a laminator at a recent crop so was able to create this project so easily.  I bought the candle at the dollar store and used lots of lovely The Twinery twine to highlight the foil designs.  I finished it off with some Doodlebug jewels.

Valentine's Day

Happy Tuesday Everyone:
I made this paper bowl and matching Valentine to my hubby who has been my Valentine for 34 years.  He is an amazing guy and father and I am so grateful that he is mine.  I made this paper bowl to put his goodies in and a matching Valentine.  The card stays shut perfectly with The Twinery twine and I used some more twine to accent the bowl as well.  The Twinery twine just brings everything up to that next level.  Be sure to get some to accent your Valentine and upcoming spring craft projects.

XOXO Table Runner

You know when you are touched by kindness that you didn't expect but were so grateful to receive?  I received a message from Samantha Walker who knows how much I love to sew and quilt offering to send me some of her lovely Riley Blake fabric.  I received a gorgeous box of amazing fabric and for my tutorial for today I chose to use a Doohickey Designs pattern which you can find in the Digi Playground store.  

I love using my Silhouette to cut out fabric with fusible web on the back and then use simple applique on my sewing machine.  

1.  The pattern gives dimensions for you to cut for the pieces but I opted to make my pieces 6X6" so that I could fit four on my mat.  I used a Cricut Strong Grip mat which I only use for fabric.  

2.  I cut the fusible interfacing 1/4" smaller than the 6x6" square so that I don't get any of the fusible goo on my iron and ironing board.  

3.  Iron the fusible interfacing onto the back of the fabric squares.

4.  After cool peel off the paper and stick the fabric square down on your mat.

5.  Use a brayer to make sure that the fabric will not move when you are cutting it.

6.  Use a Silhouette Fabric Blade in your machine and I use the cutting selection for fabric and always have it double cut.  

7.  Check your cut before you take your mat out of your machine and cut again if necessary.

With this pattern you always have the option to cut the templates out of paper and trace them onto your paper backed fusible web.  I would then iron the paper web onto the back of your fabric square and cut it out on your pencil line.

8.  Carefully take your fabric pieces off your mat.  You might have to snip a few threads so have a sharp pair of scissors handy.

9.  Iron your pieces following the pattern onto the background pieces you have cut according to the pattern directions.

10.  I used a blanket stitch on my machine with matching thread to applique my pieces down.  You can see them laid out ready to be stitched above.

11.  Assemble the table runner and quilt and bind as desired.  I machine quilted mine using a paper quilting template of roses.

Table runners are such an elegant gift and brighten any room and don't take very much fabric or effort.  Be sure to share with  us if you try this one.

Be Mine

One thing that definitely gets me through our yucky New England January winters is preparing for Valentine's Day.  I simply adore the colors and these Doodlebug patterns are so cute.  I used two different Digi Playground files for my project.  The box is made by the uber talented Jamie Cripps and it is called 3D Candy Bar/Pencil Holder.  So you can use it for two different things.  You can find this amazing file here.

The sentiments are called Valentine Phrases and you can print them in so many wonderful yummy papers and resize them to fit your needs.  You could even make a matching card for your chocolate bar treat holder.  You can find the files for the phrases here.  Jamie made these awesome files as well.

Happy New Year
