CardMaker Birthday

Happy Friday everyone.  I am so thrilled to be back guest designing for my favorite magazine and blog, CardMaker.  I love browsing on Pinterest and probably spend way too much time doing it.  I fell in love with this color palette and knew that they would match the plaid paper which I had just bought from My Favorite Things.
I used some wonderful inks from My Favorite Things which match the papers beautifully and finished off my card with some sparkly Stickles.

Crown Card

My son is getting married in October and his fiances shower is this weekend and we are having a princess theme.  They are going to Disney for the first week on their honeymoon and she loves everything related to Disney Princesses.  When I saw Samantha Walker's new cut file in the Digi Playground Store I knew that I had to get it to make a quick card to go along with one of her gifts.  Here is a link directly to the cut file.

I absolutely love that you can get the SVG files in color which makes the layers so much easier to see.  I took the crown and ungrouped the layers as I wanted the top part popped up and glittery to give it some sparkle.
Once I had them separated I moved it around on my mat to conserve paper.  This card worked up so quickly and other than the glitter paper I chose to leave it unadorned.  I think she will love it.

Dad Happy Birthday TV Gift Box

My Father-in-law's birthday is Monday and we usually give him a gift card to a restaurant or a book store.  They love to eat out so it's a perfect gift for them.  I always feels a tiny bit bad just putting it into a card.  I saw this cute file by the amazing Jamie Cripps and knew that it would be perfect for his gift card.  The top opens so I will be able to pop a gift card right in there.  I think he will get a kick out of it.  You can see this and a lot of other wonderful cut files in the Digiplayground Store.
I added the word Dad although there are several different cut files available in the store and one does have the Dad word in a beautiful script.

See you around and hope you are having a great summer.

Summer Breeze Home Deco

When I saw the new release Summer Breeze twine, I was so excited because it matches the colors in my daughter's room really well.  For the second time in the last four years she has had severe water damage in her room.  To be twenty and have such disruption in your home and your bedroom when you are trying to go to school and work has been unsettling.  I bought these cardboard C letter at Joann's.  They are a bargain as I paid .80.  I used two sided sticky tape to cover the letter on the front, most of the sides and some of the back.  I then sat in front of the TV and wound my twine around my letter.  The curves take a little bit of patience but the finished project is well worth the effort.
I made some felt flowers with My Favorite Things metal dies and a matching bow and finished it off with some matching bling.  This is a lovely, relatively easy project and you could mix and match The Twinery colors as they all coordinate.

Happy Fourth of July Lighthouse

One of my most favorite holidays is the fourth of July. I made this little light house gift holder which is sitting on my desk right now making me a very happy lady.
The lighthouse has three separate parts which is kind of cool.  This is the top.  I used Light House Favor Box cut file from Silhouette by Sweet Afton #80203 for this adorable treat holder.
Here is the bottom of the box which would hold some M&M's or other small candy nicely.
Here is the top of the box which is decorated with a ships wheel.  I used Doodlebug's Patriotic Parade and just love this collection.
This is my last post as a CardMaker Blog DT member and I will miss posting on a regular basis.  I'll still be around and can't wait to see what the new team creates.
