Mother's Day Hat Box Halloween Style

 Happy Fall Everyone:

I fell in love with Lori's new Echo Park Paper collection called I Love Halloween and knew that I wanted to use it for a Halloween project for my tutorial.  We are going to be making the Mother's Day Hat Box which you can find here in Lori's store and here in the Silhouette Design store.  This is a fun and easy box to put together.  Let me show you how I did it.

Here are the parts all cut out.  I used my Silhouette Rotary Blade and followed a You Tube video to learn how to use it.  It cut the felt beautifully for the flowers.

You are going to take your two long rectangle tabbed pieces and fold the tabs down.

Next you are going to glue the tabbed end of the rectangle piece to the other end making a circle.

The file comes with four round circles.  One is glued inside the box and one is glued on top of the box.  I like to glue my inside circle in first as I find it is easier to ease it to fit.  Then I glue the top of the box on.  I use a wet glue when making projects like this where I am asking the paper to be in different shapes.

I made both boxes and then checked to make sure that one slid easily over the top.  I then chose that as my box top.  I then glued the top on the box and the decorative band around the bottom.

I then glued the bottom of the box onto the scalloped piece centering it.

I brought the ends of the bow pieces on both sides to the center back of the bow and glued it together well.  Then I wrapped the center bow piece around the bow and glued that as well.

I then added the ribbons of the bow to the back of the bow.

Here are my rolled felt flowers.  I cut them easily with my Silhouette Cameo 4 following a You Tube video.  I started at the end of the flower and rolled them up and secured them well with wet adhesive.  Be sure that you don't put your flowers in the way of the box being able to be opened and closed easily.   I added some embellishments to my box and rolled some of the leaves to give them a bit more dimension.  

Lastly, here is the box open with some Halloween candy for your favorite sweetie.  I have my hat out as a Halloween decoration and it makes me smile when I look at it.

Pop Up Flower Card

 Hi:

Anita here with a fun post to make a stunning pop up flower card.  I made this card using Lori's 5X7 Pop Up Flower Card 4 which you can find the cut file for here in her shop and here in the Silhouette Design store.  I watched her You Tube tutorial which you can find on Lori's blog, here.  I used some of Lori's lovely Echo Park Paper collections including I Love Summer, My Favorite Christmas and All Boy.  I used the Sketch and Cut function on my Silhouette and you can look up a tutorial on how to use this feature on the web.

Look how lovely this card is when it is open.  I can't wait to send it off to an August birthday girl.  Be sure to check out all of Lori's Pop Up Flower Cards and watch the tutorial.  They are easy to put together once you watch the video.

Library Pocket Card and Matching Gift Box

Hello Everyone:

Anita here with a fun project which Lori designed recently called Library Pocket Card Sailboat.  You can find the file here in her store and here in the Silhouette Design store.  I also made the matching Gift Box Sailboat which you can find here in Lori's store and here in the Silhouette Design store.  I used some of Lori's Echo Park Paper collections for this project including All Boy, My Favorite Christmas and I Love Summer.  I used the print and cut feature for the library card itself.  I'm sure my nephew will love his box which I will also put some treats into for him.

Bible Study Journal Tutorial

Hi Everyone:

Anita here with a bible study journal that I made for my father.  He has not been able to go to bible study for various reasons over the last several months and is eager to get started back.  I made him this journal so that he could take it with him to make notes.  I used the SVG cut file from Lori's shop that is called Pray Hardest and you can find that file here in Lori's store and here in the Silhouette Design store.  I also used the file called 3 Christian crosses which you can also find here in Lori's store and here in the Silhouette Design store.  I also used one of Lori's newest Echo Park paper collections called All Boy.

Here is a photo of the materials that I used for making this journal.

I measured the journal cover and it measured 7.5" X 9.75" so I cut my front and back cardstock to that size.  I decided that I wanted the spine cover to be 2" wide so I cut that by the 9.75" length as well.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to create this project and did resize it once I measured the size that I would have available to decorate on the front of the journal.  I resized it to 8.250" X 6.767".   I used a wet adhesive on the covers because then I would be able to move the paper around until it was perfect.  I then opened the journal and trimmed with small scissors around the rounded edges of the covers.

For the pen I took the end of the pen off and took out the ink shaft.  I then measured the length that would be able to be seen when the  pen was together.  I cut my paper 1" X 3" and rolled it around a paint brush handle.  You basically just need to get it started rolling in a circle.  I then slid it into the pen shaft, put the ball point ink shaft back into the pen and screwed back on the end cap and my pen was done.  I used 2/5" diameter adhesive dots to adhere the pen to the spine of the journal.

I hope that it brings a smile to his face when he sees his new bible study journal.

Happy Father's Day Shirt Card

Lori Whitlock Teacup Explosion Box Mother's Day Tutorial

Hi Everyone:

Anita here with a tutorial for Lori's Explosion Box Teacup card for Mother's Day.  You can find this file here in her store and here in the Silhouette Design store.  I used Lori's new Echo Park collection called All Girl.  This card makes such a stunning statement and Lori has several other explosion box designs as well.

I made extra flowers and used two to put on top of my box.

Here is a photo of the box when it has exploded open.  It's just so pretty.

Here are the pieces that I cut out.  I ended up cutting out extra flowers and cut two more extra square panels, one I put under the tea cup and one in the box lid.

I put the inside of the box together and the cover as well.  I would recommend that if you are planning to put gift cards in the pockets that you put the card in and then put the pocket where you need it to be so that it will close nicely.  I popped  up the hearts and the messages for Mom.

Starting at the top left I took photos of the process of putting together the teacup.  There is a tab on one end of the cup piece and you glue just up to the tab.  I used wet glue for the best hold.  I then took the smaller perforated circle and glued it into the bottom of the teacup.  Next, I glued on the handle to the teacup.  Bending both tabs and using wet glue again for the best hold.  Similarly there is a tab on one end of the saucer which you need to glue together.  Then I attached the larger perforated circle to the back of the saucer.   Once everything was good and dry I adhered the teacup to the center of the saucer.

I then started rolling my flowers.  I just love doing this and had fun.  There are so many different ways to roll the flowers.  I have photos where I started rolling one flower with a skewer to get it going in a round shape and another one where I used a flower roller which I bought a long time ago.  My fellow Creative Team member, Corri Garza has a tutorial on rolling flowers on Lori's blog which you can find here.  I used leftover Easter grass to fill my cup so that the flowers would stay in.  I was planning to just cut my own green paper if I didn't have any grass.  Thank you so much for looking and have a great day.  Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there and very special wishes to a certain mom to be.
