Summer Fun

Happy Saturday everyone.  I hope that your summer is off to a great start as we are getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July in the US.  I wanted to create a layout that would allow me to use the new Beach Bundle 1 by the ever so talented Jennifer Rush.

Here is the layout that I created.  I used October Afternoon's Treasure Map for my layout.  The first thing that I did was put the beach ball pattern on my mat.  I love that Digiplayground gives colored files which make it so much easier to plan out your project.
Here is the original file on my mat.  I ungrouped it and took away the brown circle.  I then regrouped the white base, beach ball stripes and the center piece and re sized them until they were the size that I wanted.  I wanted my beach ball to fill a large portion of my mat.
Once I resized it, I ungrouped it and put the circle where I wanted it on my mat.
I like to move the pieces back where they belong after I have done significant re sizing.  Once I was sure it was how I wanted it I moved the pieces to the side and started cutting.
Here are some of the fun pieces of this kit which look so sweet on my layout.  This umbrella is so cute.
Here are an adorable pair of flip flops.
I just love these sunglasses.
I love how this came out and all the cut files are so easy to work with, totally able to be re sized and come out beautifully.

Be sure to check out the store for the current summer sale including this wonderful cut file.

You Inspire Me

Hello everyone and happy summer.  I had a lot of fun looking around Pinterest to find something to inspire me for the card which I made today.  I love summer, cute food and bright colors and the photo below met all of these goals for me.
Isn't this just so pretty?  I love those paper straws and the colors are so yummy and inviting.
Here is the card that I created using some thin felt to make these fun loopy flowers and using a paper straw to display my sentiment.

I love to use my washi tape to create a card background and was so excited to find this one in my stash from Doodlebug that perfectly matched the straw in the photo.  It is so easy to lay down the washi and then take sharp scissors and trim around the card front.
Here's a close up of my loopy flower.  I mixed and matched the colors to create some dimension in my flowers.
I tried out the new Hero Arts Ombre ink for the sentiment and the effect is subtle which I loved.  Hope you have a great day and thanks for looking.

CardMaker Magazine and Avery Elle Blog Hop

Hello Everyone:
Happy Monday and welcome to the CardMaker Magazine and Avery Elle blog hop.  You should have come to my blog via Caryn Davies wonderful blog and will next be going to Yainea's awesome blog to see what she created.  If you did not come here via that path please start at the beginning at the CardMaker Blog.
I was so lucky to be sent some wonderful Avery Elle items from their brand new release a Geek Love stamp set and matching Geek Love Die.  I had such fun creating this card with these dies and stamps.  The stamps are awesome and so easy to work with and the dies cut perfectly.
My daughter is a nerd and she is starting an EMT class tomorrow, she already has her CNA and is trying to get more experience before her senior year in college and applying to Physician Assistant Graduate school.  She is an overachiever and kind of nervous so I thought this fun card would make her laugh.
Be sure to hop all the way through to see what my fellow participants have created for you.  There will be a prize offered on the Avery Elle blog.

Strawberry Birthday Wishes

I love summer and especially strawberries.  I found these adorable cut files in the Silhouette Store and made this gift set.  The little box would hold a gift card and the strawberry box could be filled with some small chocolates.
Here is the card which will fit perfectly in a standard size envelope.  I tied some yummy The Twinery twine around the stem and I used four different colors which I love to do on projects.  Mixing and matching is so much fun.
How stinkin' cute is this little box from Lori Whitlock.  This is what caught my eye and led me to creating this gift set.  I tied some twine around the handle of the box to match the card.

Finally, here are some photos of my luscious strawberry.  I used some fabric stiffener called Stiffy to make a twisted stem curl for my strawberry.  I painted on the Stiffy, which is really like very thin white glue and then wrapped it around a chop stick and let is dry that way overnight.  It gives you a beautiful, stiffened twine embellishment.  I hope that you have a chance to try stiffening some of your twine.

June Birthday Cards

Anita here saying happy June to everyone.  Summer is such a busy time and I like to get a jump on the occasion cards that I need for those closest to me.  I made this card for one of my best friend's to commemorate her birthday and the special place that she holds in my life.  I fell in love with this cut file in the Digiplaygound store called Buttery Flourish Gate Fold Card by Daniela Angelova.

 Butterfly Flourish Gate Fold Card
I used some polka dotted acrylic sheets with polka dots on them from Bella Boulevard and it just elevated the elegance of this card.
These side views shows off the acrylic nicely.
Another early June birthday that I wanted to make an extra special card for is for my nephew Adam.  He is the sweetest young man and always willing to lend a helping hand.  He loves boats so I tend to always make him a boat themed card.  I found this cut file in the Digiplayground store and it is called Yacht Papercut 7X5 card by Nic Squirrell.  You should check it out.
That's it for me for today.  Be sure to check out the store for all the new goodies as both of these are new and not to be missed.
