Double Sliding Card Thank You

 Hello Everyone:

Anita here with a fun Holiday Thank You card.  I am always so appreciative of being thought of at this time of year and Lori has this great Double Sliding Card Thank You (SVG, Silhouette) which I assembled to send out to a special couple of people.  I used one of Lori's Echo Park Paper collections called Christmas Magic.  Lori also has a tutorial to put together this card which you can find here, Tutorial part 1 & 2.

Lori Whitlock December Creative Team Blog Hop

Hi:

Anita here for the December Lori Whitlock Creative Team blog hop.  I make holiday cookie platters and gift boxes for family and friends and I decided that I would create a menu for the cookie types that people would find in their boxes this  year.  I used Lori's Christmas Stickers which you can find here as Christmas Stickers 2 and here as Christmas Stickers 3 in her store and here and here in the Silhouette Design store. In the Silhouette Design store they are simply called Christmas Stickers.   I also used her Echo Park Paper collection called A Lumberjack Christmas.  I used the print and cut method to make these stickers and ran sticker paper through my printer with registration marks.

Box Card Christmas Sleigh

 

Hi Everyone:

Anita here with a fun and easy tutorial to make this adorable Box Card Christmas Sleigh.  You can find the SVG file for this card here in Lori's store and  here in the Silhouette Design store.  I used Lori's Echo Park line called Lumberjack Christmas.

Here are the pieces that you will cut out to make your box card.  Just a note, if you are using two sided paper, then you are going to want to reverse the design of the sleigh part that is in the top right corner.  It goes inside your sleigh on the back piece and you will want it to be the color of your sleigh.

Here is a photo of the pieces glued together and ready to be put together and into the box which we will create below.

You will fold the score lines on the longer piece of the sleigh which is the front piece.  There is another rectangle that has score lines on it.  Bend those score lines to prepare it to be glued into the front of your sleigh.  I started with the back piece first and glued the tab to the back of the sleigh.  Then is put glue on both of the tabs for the front and glued that into place.  You can see how it looks once the sleigh is glued together.

I then added in piece once which has Santa on it.  I put it about 1/4" from the front of the sleigh.  This is really about personal preference and how you want it to look.  I then folded the tabs for part two, with the presents and glued that into place.

You are done and have a lovely card which folds flat for mailing.  Thanks for looking and have a great day.

December Lori Whitlock Blog Hop

Christmas with my Gnomies Set

Anita here today to share an adorable gift set that I made for a dear friend who happens to love gnomes.  Lori Whitlock has several different cards which you can customize to make adorable cards and gifts.  This card is a box card which she has a tutorial for which you can find here and the cut file is called 5X7 Box Card Gnome and you can find it here in her shop and here in the Silhouette store.  I used one of Lori's wonderful new Echo Park collections called Celebrate Christmas.  I also used the pink for his nose from her Echo Park Sweet Baby Girl line.  The Notebook is from her Celebrate Christmas line also and it is the lined one and is called Lined Inserts.  You get two notebooks in each set and they also have unlined ones.  My friend was thrilled to receive this gift.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Anita here with a fun tutorial to make this gift set.  I love to quilt and embroider as much as I love to paper craft and I was thrilled to recently discover that Lori Whitlock has embroidery files that she has designed, many of which mirror her paper craft SVG files.  You can find her gorgeous embroidery files at Embroidery Online.  I will give you all the links in the post .

I bought shrink film from Amazon and used Lori's Print & Cut Stamps Christmas Cookies which you can find here in her store .  I resized the image of the gingerbread man so that it would come out the size that I wanted.  I then printed the image onto the shrink film through my laser printer.  Just let it dry for a few minutes before coloring it.

I then used my Copic markers to color the shrink film.  I knew that the colors would deepen once I shrunk the image so chose my colors with that in mind.  I used R37, E11, G14, G07, E99 for the gingerbread man and Y08, E99, R37, G07 for the Gingerbread house.  Be sure to punch a hole in your shrink film before you put it in the oven and remember that the hole shrinks also.  The directions say to bake the film on parchment at 300 degrees for 2-3 minutes but I found that my heat gun worked much better as I could control the plastic as it shrank.  Below is the before picture.

I went to Embroidery online and bought the bundle which had all the Christmas embroidery files that I wanted to use for this project.  It is called Christmas Time by Lori Whitlock.  You can buy the collection or the individual embroidery files.  I embroidered the phrase It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas on a piece cotton.  I then finished the edges and glued it to the front of my tote.  I also embroidered my daughter-in-law's name on the top of the apron as this set is for her.  She is an amazing baker.

I then strung my two adorable gingerbread embellishments on some yummy twine, added a bell and glued that down as well.

I really love to match things and  have been so excited to make this project.  Here is a close up of all the goodies that I put inside the basket.

The last thing that I did was made a card that used the SVG cut file which matched the embroidery.  I used Lori's new Christmas collection called Celebrate Christmas.  The cut file can be found here in Lori's store and here in the Silhouette store and is called Look a lot Like Christmas Phrase.

Holiday Thank You Cards

Anita here with a post holiday thank you card set.  I am always touched by the generosity of others during the holiday season and always like to take a moment to thank them for thinking of me.  Lori has some wonderful cut files to use for just this purpose.  I used one of her Echo Park new collections which is called A Perfect Winter.  I just love the patterns and colors and the embellishments are swoon worthy.  I used the following cut files to make these cards.  I am going to put the names of the files below each card as the names are very similar.

Holiday Dog Bandanas

Hi:

Anita here with a fun and easy tutorial to make your furry friend a dog bandana.  My son and daughter-in-law have three dogs and they like to include them in their Christmas photo.  I made some personalized bandanas for my fur grand dogs using some of Lori's fun fonts and heart cut files.  I used the Wide Marker font at 288.0 pt which can be found here in Lori's store and here in the Silhouette store.    The font for Lily's  and Sully's bandana is called Wide Marker, and for Scout's bandana I used LW Thick at 288.0 pt which can be found here in Lori's store and here in the Silhouette store.  The cut file for the hearts is called 4 hearts and can be found here in Lori's store and here in the Silhouette store.  I found a doggie bandana pattern on the internet from Sew Caroline and the free pattern is here.  

Here are the supplies that I used for Lilly's bandana.  You can really use any heat transfer vinyl.

I measured across the part of the bandana where I wanted to put the letters so that I would have a sense of how wide the name could be and fit nicely.

Lori's fonts are so easy to find in your Silhouette font library and they start with the letters LW.

I had fun experimenting with some of Lori's different fonts to see which one I liked the best.  

Heat transfer vinyl has a clear plastic sheet which is sticky over the front of the vinyl which allows you to protect the vinyl while ironing it on.  You are going to want to place it with the clear/front side down on your mat.  You can cut vinyl without a mat but I didn't want to move my rollers so I put it on a mat.

As you can see from above there are many different types of heat transfer vinyl.  I chose to use a metallic one so that is what I selected in the cut settings.  Notice that the letters are not mirrored on my mat.

Isn't Silhouette so smart?  They know I am cutting with vinyl and asked me if I wanted to mirror my design.  Given that I was cutting out letters I said send mirrored.  I also chose to do two passes as my blade isn't brand new and I was asking it to cut through three layers.  I could also have mirrored it before sending it to cut.

Wows, my mat is looking well loved.  Here are the letters cut out and the extra vinyl removed.  Don't remove the top plastic sheet, you need it on until the letters are ironed down.

Everything is ironed down now.  I used a plastic pressing sheet and did not heat it for the 45-60 seconds as they recommend on the package because my iron runs really hot and I didn't want to bubble the vinyl. I usually choose a middle point and put the first letter down there and then add the rest one at a time.  I find that things move less that way when ironing.  Apply even pressure, not steam and don't move your iron back and forth.

I used Velcro circles on each corner point and stitched them down.  I used a seam ripper to gently peel away the top plastic piece.  I have also used a pin in the past.  If the vinyl starts to pull up then you might have to reheat it.  Be careful to not overheat it.
