Lori Whitlock June Blog Hop

Welcome to the Lori Whitlock June blog hop.  You should have come here from the awesome Kathy Skou's blog and next will be going to the also awesome Brandie Harding Adams' blog.If you didn't get here in that way you can start again at the beginning at Lori's blog.  My mom and dad live in Florida and on Friday afternoons they have happy hour by the pool.  I made this for her to bring down her favorite beverage to enjoy.  I used vinyl to cut the shape and transfer tape to put the circle on, but not for the W as it is too fragile.  The W is lilac in color which doesn't show as well in the photo.  Here are the places where you can find the file that I used.
I plan to seal it with a waterproof sealer that Modge Podge makes.

Thanks for looking and happy hopping.

Graduation Hat Wide Mouth Topper

 Hi Everyone:
Anita here to share with you a fun tutorial to make this Graduation Hat Wide Mouth Topper.  You can find this awesome cut file here in Lori's store and here in the Silhouette store.  The Mason jars are by Ball and are 24 oz.  The opening is 3.5 inches in diameter.  Lori also has a cut file for a smaller Mason jar.

Here are the pieces that you will be cutting out.  I took the square shape and transformed it into a hexagon to mirror the PhD graduation cap that my best friend's daughter wore at her recent graduation.
Here is a close up of the jars for you to see what they look like.
First you are going to want to take the long tabbed strip and fold the tabs in and glue the ends together to be in the shape of a circle.
Lori always finishes her projects so nicely and the first circle is going to get glued on top of the tabs that you folded down and then while it was still wet I turned it over and glued in the second circle so you can't see those tabs.  It also helps the circle stay in the nice round shape that you want it in.
I made a tassel out of some twine in the school colors and threaded it through the hole in the larger of the two mortar board pieces.  I taped off the end underneath and trimmed it so that you couldn't see it.

I then glued the second, smaller mortar board piece over the twine tassel end.  Lastly I glued the base to the cap centering it.
Here is another photo which might be a bit easier to see the parts.  These lovely toppers slip right onto the top of the jar and are easy to get on and off for ease of the recipient getting into their treats.
That's it for me.  Thanks for looking and be sure to check out Lori's store for all your spring and early summer celebration needs.

Pop Out Card for Graduation

Hi Everyone:
It's that time of year again with so many wonderful spring and early summer celebrations that you know you will need cards and gifts for.  My daughter-in-law graduated this past weekend and I made this card to celebrate her three long years of schooling.  She earned her MBA from The Ohio State University and we couldn't be more proud of her.  I used Lori's cut file called Pop Out Card Graduation which you can find here in her store and here in the Silhouette store.
I used some fabric stiffener and recut the star out of Ohio State fabric that I had.  This card came together so easily.  I'm sure you know some graduates who would love it.

That's it for me today.  Have a great week.

Recently my mom was in the hospital and were unsure if she would get well.  I reached out on Facebook to my family and friends for support and my mother has turned the corner and is currently at a rehab in Florida to build back her strength.  I made this card so thank all those that reached out to me with Facebook messages, texts, phone calls and prayers.  I am blessed to have to many caring people in my life.

I used a bunch of different Echo Park paper collections of Lori's to complete this sweet card.  It is called Shaped Card Lifesaver and you can find the cut file here in Lori's store and here in the Silhouette store.  I used I Heart Crafting, Wish Upon a Star and Sweet Baby Boy and what I love so much about her Echo Park collections is that they are interchangeable with the same color hues which allows me to mix and match easily.

5 X 7 Lace Card Tutorial for Lori Whitlock

Hi Everyone:
Anita here with a fun and easy tutorial to make this lace edge card which you can use for any occasion that you need a pretty card for.  You can find the file that I used called Lace Edge 3 here in Lori's SVG store and here in the Silhouette Design store.  As you will see there are many different styles to choose from.  I used Lori's new fabulous Echo Park collection called Celebrate Winter.  Planning to send this off to a friend with warm winter wishes.
Here are the three pieces that you will be cutting out using your preferred electronic cutter.  The card base, the insert and the pocket that the insert will go into to write your sentiment on.
You are going to want to put your card in front of you with the fold on the left.  You are going to fold on the score lines on the card and also on the pocket.  Next you will glue the pocket to the right side of the card putting glue only on the tabs.  This photo shows the pocket completed and the insert inside.  Below is another shot which has the insert half way out so that you can see it.
This card goes together so easily and as you see can be designed for whatever occasion you want.  You could even slip a gift card, cash or check in the pocket with your sentiment as well.  That's it for me today.
